untitled

Did you like the Beastie Boys?
I guess I could understand if you did, I just never really grew up ever hearing them, so I've never been able to really get into them. But today, I thought I'd give them a listen for you. They're interesting. I know you liked a lot of music that I didn't, but I do remember that one time when you were getting work done at Alkali and I stopped by with some blank CDs and my laptop and burned you a handful of CDs. Those CDs are now sitting in Mom's garage, almost every one of the ones I burned for you. It makes me wonder if you had gotten to listen to them, and if you did, what you thought of them. I've been taking care of your car, the Geo, which since has been named Edward Norton. I bet you'd like that, and the fact that I can actually drive a stick. Yeah, I kind of had to teach myself, but because of vide games, I was fine. So many things make me think of you these days. You're always in my mind, and it's not ever easy to go through everyday like that, but I'd rather have that than not ever having you on my mind. In retrospect, me moving back to Wisconsin has been beneficial to the family, if for no other reason than to just be here for everyone. This hasn't been the easiest year we've ever had, it seems like we keep getting kicked when we're down, but we're trying to keep our heads up as much as possible. But that's pretty tasking, even the most optimistic people have their bad days. I'm glad that I got to see you last year on your birthday, I remember it well. I met you and mom at the bar, even if I didn't see you for that long, that didn't matter. At least I got to see you on your birthday, which is more than I could ask for. Who would have thought that would be the last birthday we would be together? That's all I can handle for today.

Mountains and Weird Hippies

Currently I am at Clint's Coffee shop in Breckenridge, Colorado.
I didn't get a chance to update my blog yesterday, that is because Nate and I made the drive from Omaha to Colorado Springs starting at 10pm, and arrived in Colorado Springs at 10am, after a nap in a Wal-Mart parking lot, and a few bathroom stops.
When we arrived, we met up with Matt from As Told By who graciously let us shower at his place. That was something we both really needed, being stinky, sticky, and dirty isn't something you want to be all day.
The guys had wanted to have a shoot in a local High School hallway, which ended up being a slight problem, but we ended up making a few calls and made it work out great.
After the shoot, Nate, Matt and I got some coffee and then went and climbed a mountain.
Then we went to Manitou Springs, Colorado and got some Yerba Mate tea, which is one of the most interesting drinks I can say I have ever had. It is completely grown by a strange cult that has pony tails.
Then we got free pizza at Louie's in town, which ruled. The guy, Mike, who was working was a super cool guy.
Now, we are about to embark upon our 10 Hour drive to Las Vegas!

Granola, Iowa!

Okay, then city is not actually called Granola, it is something like Granule, or Granole, or whatever. The only reason I mention this city is because we stopped at a Kum & Go Convenience store...yes, it really does exist.
Yesterday I had a shoot with the bands The Desolate in Burlington Iowa and Kidnap The Sun in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
When Nate and I were about to roll into Iowa, we both had the mindset of "Iowa's going to suck", mainly because we had no idea what as in Iowa. To our surprise, Burlington Iowa was the coolest little city ever, comparable to Silvertown in Joe Dirt.
The dudes in The Desolate are all super chill dudes, and they all are super hilarious. We had the opportunity of having a shoot while a shirtless Indian watched with his tiny cut-off jeans from inside a building. I'm sure he was just making sure nothing fishy was going, otherwise he would have to go and warn the others.
Then, we went to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for a shoot with Kidnap The Sun. Those guys are all super fun to hang with, and we ended up getting some shots in Cedar Rapids only Hip-Hop club, Club 616. (616 is the address of the building, -3 points for unoriginality.)
Then we went back to Brent's place and got some more shots, then enjoyed the always tasty Perkins.
Now we're on our way to Omaha, Nebraska to shoot The Legacy Virus, and then Superior.
Then the following day we will undergo the grueling 8 hour drive to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Until Next time,
Rocky Morgan

Tour!

As I sit here, it is way too late to be still awake, especially when I plan on waking up early tomorrow to hit the road! Nate and I are currently in Rochelle, Illinois with Craig from Another Hero Dies and some other dopey fresh peeps watching I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell.
Yesterday we had a shoot with the Madison based band Look, I'm Burning in a dark alleyway. At the end of the shoot, a strange lady named Maggie came up and started talking to us.
One thing lead to another, and I ended up with a few photographs of her, and the knowledge that she is a model. I have to admit, she did know how to work a camera.

Today was a travel and chill day for us, we went to Alkali tattoo where A Lexus backed into me. He was old as a bag of dirt and realized it was his fault.

Me, not caring, just went with it because there isn't much more damage that can be done to my rear end, it's been pounded enough.

Oo!

Until tomorrow,
Later!

Tour Is Almost Here!

The wheels are starting to spin, tour is almost here!
My new camera came in the other day, and I've had a chance of having a few shoots with it so I can get the hang of it. I had made the switch from Nikon to Canon, finally.
I also upgraded from CS3 to CS4 tonight.
My buddy Nate Mead is flying out on the 20th to go on the tour with me, so I won't have to do this trip of epic awesomeness alone. We've got a video camera, some PB&J, and a video camera. Prepare for a fun time!
Tonight I had a shoot with Oh So Secret, who is pictured above, and got some real awesome shots.
As always, feel free to contact me if you'd like to meet up for coffee, a shoot, or anything in between.

Rocky Morgan Photography Tour 2010!

Hello internet!

It's been a long time since I've posted anything, and I feel a new entry is necessary for a new adventure!

This summer I am going to be embarking upon a Photography Tour across the United States. I'll be shooting bands in every state as I make my way from Wisconsin to California, in hopes of spreading word of my work as well as some clothing companies that I'm going to be working with for it.

Here are the dates and where I'll be, if you're going to be around any of the dates, email me and we'll meet up for coffee, or a sleepover.

5/19 - Madison, Wisconsin
5/20 - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
5/21 - Rochelle, Illinois
5/22 - Burlington, Iowa
5/22 - Cedar Rapids, Iowa
5/23 - Omaha ,Nebraska
5/24 - Colorado Springs, Colorado
5/25 - Breckenridge, Colorado
5/26 - Henderson, Nevada
5/27 - Las Vegas, Nevada
5/28 - Los Angeles, California
5/29 - Anaheim, California

My return trip will be relatively similar to those dates, but I may make some changes so I can see some of America's wonderful sights. I would love to see a Texas High School football game, but I'm pretty sure I won't be around for their season.

You should check out these companies, they all have super sick stuff, and they're all run by super awesome dudes.

If you'd like to get in contact with me about a shoot, a cup of coffee, or anything, please feel free to do so.
